It’s not an uncommon weekly occurrence to find that a grad employer has registered their company on CareerHub Central, only to find that they’ve created a duplication.
But CareerHub Central has steps to flag potential duplicates during the registration process, and it’s here that you have the option to pause and pick up the phone to call us to check, which is far preferable to a recent scenario that required considerable work to unravel.
Basically a grad employer ignored the duplication message ‘Employer with similar names found’ on their screen and created another employer account for their organisation on CareerHub Central.
Not only that, but they went ahead and also created a job for publishing which they saved, thankfully, so they could publish it later the same week.
Luckily we caught the duplication and called the employer to discuss it and, normally, the process is pretty easy to move the staff contacts across to the existing employer’s account and shut down the duplicate account.
The only downside to doing is that any saved, unpublished jobs are sacrificed which became complicated because the employer had created the new job without a source document to fall back on. In this case we were able to help the employer recreate their saved job in the correct employer account, but not without considerable cutting and pasting to replicate their efforts.
When you see the Employer with similar names found notification when you try to register as a new employer, please always call us on 1300 852 112 to check because:
- If your organisation is already registered on CareerHub Central, it is very likely that it has a job posting history and is therefore already approved to post jobs
- It is better to update an existing employer account than it is to create a brand new one so there is continuity as students and grads can browse on your past job history to understand what sort of employer you are
- Most importantly, CareerHub Central is powered by employers, not individuals. If you are new to an organisation and need your own access to your employer account in order to post jobs, it only takes mere minutes to set you up with a login and password which you can either request over the phone or by email.
As with everything, just call our employer support team on 1300 852 112 if you need us to talk you through how CareerHub Central works.
